Spanish School

Mar Azul Spanish School is a small, independent school located in the famous beach, Montanita, the main beach attraction of Ecuador. 

OUR SCHOOL One-on-one classes offer the best way to gain a fuller comprehension of Spanish. Each individual learns differently and what is effective for one student may not be for another. So we have developed a methodology where the professor and student work together to design a customized study plan. Students are given a placement exam (both written and oral) to determine what level they should begin classes and to identify areas of weakness and what their goals may be. In a one-on-one setting, teachers are able to adjust the course to fit any students situation. Our intensive Spanish courses comprise 20 hours of one-on-one study, 4 lessons a day, 5 days a week. Our program is flexible and we can always tailor the times, structure, and location of classes to best suit the learning styles and specific needs of each individual student. Until 8am to 5 pm.

How can find us We are far enough from the town of Montanita itself to prevent excessive noise from ruining your studies. Surrounded by hedges with green leaves and a bamboo fence, you´ll sit amongst lush tropical plants and hearing the crash of ocean waves in the background while you study, you´ll love the good energy here. Walk north from the bus stop toward the point. You will cross the bridge and find a series of dirt roads on the left hand side of the principal road. Come to the last one, marked with our "Spanish school" sign and turn left, heading toward the beach. look for the sign on the first big wood house on the left side. We´re just 100 steps from the beach...

We believe in more than the chalk and board technique of learning. We try to make learning more interesting for you and encourage students to apply their spanish by extending the learning experience outside of the classroom. We offer varied and interesting activities to stimulate our students and help them to gain a greater awareness of the larger cultural issues surrounding life in Ecuador and life in Latin America Weekly latin dancing and local Ecuadorian cooking classes. *Minimum 3 person per class Visits to museums and aquariums Our 'Conversation Club', every Wednesday evening, in a local bar/restaurant for a chance to practice the Spanish taught in class. Discuss diverse cultural topics together with Ecuadorian friends, in an informal, relaxed setting. * Minimum 3 person in the extra activities. Weekly Spanish Movie Night (Niche de cine Iberaméricano). * Minimum 3 person in the extra activities. There are a variety of incredible travel destinations near Montanita. Mar Azul Spanish school can also organize various day trips and excursions. We offer diverse and varied programs in which you can mix adventure, nature and learning. For example: Surf trips to amazing beaches with empty waves abound in Las Tunas and Ayampe. Isla de la Plata: the fauna and flora of this island are similar to some islands of the archipielago of Galapagos (2 hours by boat from Puerto Lopez). Whale-watching (between June and September): their observation guarantees strong emotions! "Los Frailes": reputed to be the most beautiful beach in Ecuador. Agua Blanca: walks or horse rides through the tropical dry forest and visits to the Pre-Inca ruins (Valdivia, Machalilla, Chorrera, Manta). Eco tourism trails in Dos Mangas - Near Montanita, the most diverse vegetation of the region, 21 natural pools, rivers and waterfalls up to 60 meters in the rainy season * all this activities could be change depending of the number of the students interest in this, and special conditions.
