`I spent a fantastic week at Mar Azual with Gaby and within that week my spanish improved immensly, Gaby has been one of the best professors of spanish I have EVER come across and would highly recommend her school, classes and home to all. She teachers in a very logical and fun way making spanish easy to learn....my only regret is not having stayed longer!`

Great place to learn spanish

"May 29, 2009"
Believe me when I say that the instruction and teaching is top notch at the Marazul spanish school. I have been studying spanish for several years now and have lots of experience with different teachers. By far Gabi, the owner and one of the teachers, is the most well qualified instructor I have ever encountered. She is very well trained/experienced, easy to talk to (probaly the most important), and just a great person. If you are looking for a spanish school I can not more highly recommend Marazul in Montanita. Oh, and lets not forget that Montanita might be the greatest place on the planet. The people and culture will immediatly take you in. I often took my spanish lessons right on the beach under an umbrella. with a beer in my hands.

“Taking Spanish classes at Marazul Spanish School was - hands down- the best experience of my life.”

Oct 24, 2009
I took 2 weeks of Spanish classes at Marazul Spanish School in Montanita in June 2009. I previously did not speak any Spanish, but as a medical student in the US I feel it's absolutely necessary to at least be able to make my patients feel comfortable around me (even if I still need a translator for the medical discourse). more....

"I walked down a little dirt path that led to the famous surfing beach of Montanita, Ecuador and came to the wooden gate of a large, friendly wooden house with the tips of trees and green garden bushes poking up and out over the fence.  Stepping up to the house I was greeted by a friendly black dog, Keil and cats, Luna and Sol.

Ecuador, Teil 1: Küste und Spanisch

Tuesday, 8th December 2009

Again in Ecuador!!

Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 7:10 PM

Well, it was time for a holiday. I also wanted to improve my Spanish.
I like the sea, the beach, ... And I wanted to visit Ecuador
again. I like the country. So I decided this time I'll go to the
coast of Ecuador.
My hostal "Los cactus" was en Manglaralto - a nice, small village -
the perfect place to relax. The spanish-school "Mar azul" was in
Montanita, near Manglaralto. Montanita is a very good place to
surf, to relax on the beach (and to party).
The school "Mar azul" is near the beach. I had private
classes - 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. I wanted to speak
as much as possible. It's also possible to start earlier or later.
The time table is flexible.
During my stay I had two teachers - Isabel and Miquel. They are both
from Ecuador. We spoke about different topics, read short stories, made
different exercises, ....  Well, time is flying, when you are having fun.
And the classes were fun. And they also gave me advices for my trips.
I really enjoyed my stay in Ecuador. The only disadvantage was, that I
had to return to Germany.

HOLLAND EXPERIENCE

Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 6:35 PM

Montanita is the perfect town to hangout for a while. It´s got beach, good surf and a very good nightlife. Lots of bars, restaurant and a very nice cocktailbar alley. Lots of things to do over there and in half an hour you can be in the rainforest if you like. There is a great mix of people from all over the world and from all walks of life. The vibe is absolutely Relaxed with a big R. If you visit Ecuador, than this is a ´must go´. Although there are a lot of tourists and backpackers, it doesn´t feel too touristic. The town is one of a kind and you just feel good if you´re hanging out there.
I have stayed for a week with my wife and it was good fun. We decided to learn some Spanish and turned out to be a perfect choice. We went to Mar Azul, just outside the center. It´s a smaller school than the one in the center, but from what I have heard from that place in relation to our experience with Mar Azul, it´s not a difficult choice where to go to. We had private lessons from Gaby (she is the owner) for 6 dollars per person per hour. We did 5 times 2 hours, which was perfect for us. It really made the difference between talking with your hands, (which takes long sometimes) and just asking for what you need, or actually being able to have a conversation in Spanish. The atmosphere in the school is quiet and nice. Most of the time outside.
Gaby was really nice and patient with us (was necessary sometimes :-) But it was good to learn in your own pace and focus on some things we would specifically like to learn. After two lessons we were practicing everything we learned and also having conversations about Ecuador and Holland (where we are from) at the same time. This was very nice, because it didn´t feel like being in a classroom and just learning lines at all. It was a good experience, we have learned al lot and it made the rest of our trip more comfortable communication wise.

Cheers,
